In April of 2002, the Simpsons TV show was criticized by the tourism board of Rio -- over an episode where the cartoon family goes to Brazil. "What really hurt was the idea of the monkeys," a tourism spokesman complained. Wild jungle simians attack a hapless orphan boy twice during the episode....

The Simpsons' executive producer apologized "to the lovely city and people of Rio de Janeiro" at the time, and added "if that doesn't settle the issue, Homer Simpson offers to take on the President of Brazil on Fox Celebrity Boxing."

So a year later, on tonight's episode, the family debates which exotic city to visit next on vacation. "I'd like to return to Brazil," Homer says....

"But I hear the monkey problem is even worse now."
