The Ventures recorded the surf-music instrumental "Walk Don't Run" -- an early 60s classic. Yet according to this great history of the band the four men on the cover of the album are not the Ventures!
The actual members were recording in Seattle at the time and couldn’t make the photo shoot for the cover. So the record company grabbed four stock boys and stuck sun glasses on them, piled ‘em into a heap and borrowed some instruments from a music store around the corner....

Here's a joke...

Q: Why was the running-sausage girl hit by the Pittsburgh Pirates' Randall Simon?

A: Because the CIA told him she was smuggling uranium out of Nigeria.

I made that up this morning - but then found out a Pennsylvania columnist expanded the joke into a whole page...

The Pittsburgh Pirates said today that Wednesday’s pre-emptive strike against the Italian Sausage at Miller Park in Milwaukee will prove to be justified despite claims that the ballclub may have lied about the threat posed by the pork product...
